Description

This is a light, spacious first floor traditional tenement flat, a 15 minute walk to the High Street and all the tourist sites - galleries, the Castle, the new Parliament building, cafes. We also have three bus routes going into town for when you don't want to walk. We have many cinemas and theatres, and a couple of good Jazz clubs within 20 minutes walk. Also, of course, all the restaurants, cafes, pubs, and nightlife that you could wish for - and it's only a ?8 taxi ride home! In the neighbourhood there are many shops, wine merchants, video/DVD rental, and good cafes and restaurants, so you don't have to go far. It's good enough for Inspector Rebus!

Our flat has two double bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, large sunny lounge, a family bathroom and separate shower room. We also have wifi and my lovely Mac computer.

Edinburgh is famous for the Festival and Fringe in August, of course, but there's always lots to do and see at any time of year, and not so crowded! You could happily lose yourself in the Old Town cobbled streets and steep steps, picnic in Princes Street Gardens to escape the shoppers, or hop on the free bus that takes you to all the galleries (all with nice cafes!). Take a walk up any of the city's seven hills to get a great view. It?s such an easy city to wander about in - you can't get lost ? you can always see the Castle!

If you do get bored of the city, well, an hour?s drive in any direction will get you to the Borders, Fife, Perthshire and beyond to the glorious West Coast - but that?s a trip of several days. Glasgow, too, is worth a visit ? it?s only 45 minutes by bus or train ? there you can marvel at the Charles Rennie Macintosh buildings, visit the Burrell exhibition or best of all, go to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery.

A couple of hours south you'll find Northumberland, Yorkshire, and the Lake District - all delightful!

Extra Info

We are two female teachers, in our early 60's, Joss and Sharon, and so we're confined to school holidays at the moment. We are open to offers anywhere, just not TOO hot! - city or country.

We like going to galleries and eating out. We also like (gentle) walks.

We?re open to suggestions for short breaks during October, December, February and Easter holidays as well as the whole of July - the only perk of being a teacher!!

We love our flat and would treat your property with the same care.
