Chieri is a small town, 30000 residents, 10miles NW of Torino with pleasant walking, cycling, sports centers, swimming pools and horse riding areas. Nestled in classical Italian hills there are a number of locally produced foods (Grisini, cheeses, salamis), drinks (Fresia, Martini) and a few surviving Italian textile producers.
Nearby: a planetarium, Astronomical Observatory, and large churches. Easy exploration of Torino by bus, train and car. Torino was host to the Winter Olympics and many facilities now used by the public, also the FIAT Car Museum, Cinema Museum, Egyptian Museum, and the (in-)famous Shroud of Turin. Day trips: skiing in the Alps, Milan, Liguria Beaches, France and lovely typical Italian villages.
