Our house has little front garden with nice planting plus tiny south-facing back patio. Not at all grand but offers all basics (except a tv - we watch films on our Mac). Lots of books, toys & films.
Opposite is a beautiful park with great playground, cafe (home-baked cakes) & tennis courts. Also small indoor pool & children's art workshop. The area is one of Brighton's more bohemian.
Nearby is the very pretty, historical town of Lewes, beautiful countryside & several country houses. London only 50min by train.
Brighton has great shopping, good restaurants, a vibrant seafront, The Royal Pavilion, & the int'l festival in May.
