Nelson, Nelson New Zealand (HE23599)

Sunny Nelson consistently has the highest sunshine hours in NZ. It is situated at the top of the South Island, mid-NZ. Nelson is well-known for its arts and crafts, cafes and wineries. The Saturday market is a must to visit. Marlborough wineries famous for Sauvginon Blanc wines are 1.5hrs away.

Our house is a five minute walk to the beach and local restaurants. There are great cycle and walk paths nearby and in the hills surrounding Nelson.

Further afield there are more wonderful beaches with golden sands. The famous Abel Tasman walking track takes you from beach to beach. Alternatively you can water taxi or kayak. The Nelson lakes offer trout fishing and a small ski field. Over the Takaka Hill is Golden Bay where there are more stunning beaches, bush walks and cafes. Nelson is one of NZ's most appealing districts and a great base to tour the rest of NZ from.
