Home in a quiet area

Our home is 6 years old. It is modern, spacious and has all mod cons. It`s in a lovely quiet area with low maintenance gardens. The home consists of 3 bedrooms, the 3rd one being used as our office and does not have a bed. There is a separate toilet adjacent to the bathroom with a 2nd one in the master bedroom ensuite. There is a 3rd toilet in the workshop. The home is double glazed throughout which, together with the large output log fire, ensures the home stays warm even on the coldest winter days.

Our home is not suitable for children.

About the location

We are in a private and picturesque area, centrally located in the middle of the North Island at the southern end of Lake Taupo. The road we live in is actually just outside of Turangi with the mighty Tongariro River separating our road from the town. The walk to the town centre takes about 20 minutes, 5 minutes by car or 10 minutes by bike.

Turangi is often referred to as the town for all seasons, for no matter what outdoor activity, the seasons cater for those people who like the outdoors. Whether it be swimming in the lake in summer, a base for hiking/tramping/walking such well known tracks as the Round the Mountain walk (4 days), the Tongariro crossing or other shorter walks along the Tongariro River, or for the main activities in Autumn through Spring for fishing and Winter/Spring for ski-ing. The Tongariro River is a world famous, fly fishing only, river for both rainbow and brown trout with fish of 3kg or more not being uncommon. There are other well known fly fishing rivers flowing into Lake Taupo as well as the lake and other lakes in the immediate area. There are 3 ski fields on Mount Ruapehu approximately 45 minutes from Turangi.

The much larger town of Taupo, at the northern end of the lake is approximately 40 minutes drive. For more entertainment, shops, banks and restaurants it would be a place to visit. If you like Art Deco, then Napier too the would be a good place to visit - approximately a 2 hour drive. Napier is in the Hawkes Bay which is well known for its magnificent wines with many vineyards open to the public serving fantastic food.
