Dartmouth Park, Camden, London

Our family home sits in a secretive little mews tucked away through a cobbled yard. Built in the late 1960s, early 1970s, it is a beautiful, quiet mews where all the neighbours know each other and is surrounded by greenery. There are nine homes in our stretch, with private off street parking.

Our house is lovely - three bedrooms upstairs (two doubles, one children's room) and we also have a spare room on the ground floor with a sofa bed for extra space.
The master bedroom has a balcony overlooking luscious gardens and is ideal for eating breakfast on. There are two bathrooms (on en suite) and we did a complete refurbishment of our home last year.

The open plan living area downstairs has a kitchen table for feasts and a sitting area to relax. Large bi-fold doors take you out to a decked patio at the back, with hammocks to lie in and and a place to eat dinner, while the front of the house has a car free cul de sac where we catch the afternoon sun, play with out children and run about.

The kitchen is a good size with everything you need to cook big meals - and has a large space so you can chat with your family as you slave away! We love living here and hope someone who fancies a visit to this city will come and see why!

About the location

Tucked in a quiet spot in Dartmouth Park, this is one of the prettiest neighbourhoods in London. We are five minutes walk from the 800 acres of Hampstead Heath, and Parliament Hill Fields, which has a popular farmers market every weekend. Transport links are excellent - it's a five minute walk to Tufnell Park tube station on the Northern Line, taking you into central London in 20 minutes, or even closer are bus routes (C2, 214 and C11) which also take you into town. The Gospel Oak Overground station is also a short walk away.

Shops are plentiful - our own local shops in York Rise include the historic Dartmouth Arms pub, which serves food and great beer, Indian restaurant Monsoon, a cafe, a the lovely Truffles deli, Lure fish restaurant, a butcher, newsagent and general store, all a two minute walk from our doorstep.

You can walk in 20 minutes to visit Camden Town and its markets, head over the Hampstead, go to the cafes and restaurants in Swains Lane and watch the world go by, head up to historic Highgate Village - gorgeous architecture and great places to eat - and visit the world famous Highgate Cemetery (packed with memorials to eminent Victorians) and the laid out beauty of Waterlow Park, with Lauderdale House. Kenwood House is also a stroll away.

Dartmouth Park has a real community feel where every one knows each other - I have lived here all my life and my parents live in a house (where I grew up) literally over the garden wall from our home. You can wave at them when you are at the kitchen sink! It is a beautiful example of London's Victorian architecture with wide, tree lined streets. Above all, it is a village that offers all London has: diversity, community and a short hop to the sights and sounds of the West End. Sports fans should check out the four places to swim outdoors all within 10 minutes of our front door - the Grade-II listed art deco Olympic sized Lido, and the three swimming lakes on Hampstead Heath.
