Cottage with swimming pool in Southern Spain - Granada

This is a three bedroomed cottage with a small swimming pool. The house is in a plot of approx 2.000 metres surrounded by olive and fruit trees.

About the location

The house is located in the outskirts of Durcal town, in the area of Lecrin Valley. The area is peppered with the remains of ancient Moorish castles, old olive and flour mills as well as churches, hermitages and local markets selling fresh produce. Hiking is also very good in the Falla de Nigüelas, a 15km walk from Sierra Nevada to Durcal. A nice area is the Wetlands and Peat Bogs of Padul, refuge to more than 200 species of birds. There are three walking routes around the lagoon, the shortest is the Mammoth route, a 45 min stroll along a raised boardwalk that crosses the peat bog, indeed very popular with the children.

Granada is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, where you can ski from December to March /April depending on the weather. The ski resort at Prado Llano is considered the sunniest sky resort in Europe with over 80% of sunny days. It boasts the greatest skiable vertical drop in Spain and more than 104 km of trails with 116 runs and 22 lifts.

After a morning skiing you could drive down to the beach (1h 20 min from the ski station) or 45 -60 min from the house. Playa Granada, Almuńecar, La Herradura or Nerja offer lovely fresh fish at their many chiringuitos (beach bars) as well as simple food for the kids. Or you can visit a local wineyard. The nearest being Bodegas Señorio de Nevada.

20 min drive from the house is Granada city. Most bars include a free tapa in the price of your drink, so order your drink first and see what they bring. The Alhambra Palace (advance booking highly recommended) and the cathedral are definitely worth a visit, as well as the Science Park, an interactive museum with indoors/ outdoors activities, such as the Observation Tower, the butterfly garden, the flying predators workshop or the planetarium to name a few.

The nearest international airports are Granada, which has currently flights to the UK, Italy, France and Germany) or you can fly into Malaga, which is about 90 min away.
