Cape House with views across the sea to distant mountains - Simonstown

Inside our house there’s an open plan Living Room, with french windows to a large deck and that view. We have a fine selection of art books, poetry and fiction. CD player, and TV with Netfix, Showmax and Prime.

Off the Living Room there’s a spacious modern kitchen with gas hob, electric oven and dishwasher.

The Main bedroom has a queen size bed, ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom, again, has a queen size bed, and there’s also one single smaller bedroom.

Down the corridor leading to the main bedroom there is a separate Shower Room and toilet.

Plus there’s our Studio which has wifi and internet connection.

The washing machine and electric dryer are located in separate laundry room just outside the back door.

Our back garden is full of indigenous planting, surrounded by bushes and trees, a peaceful place.

Small BBQ and table and chairs outside the french windows from main bedroom.
Garage.... still unpacked boxes. However room for our small manual drive Fiat Panda 1.2 Young.

There are two flights of stairs up to house, through what we call the jungle, bougainvillea, hibiscus, plumbago.

*We have a well behaved pretty rescue cat called Oona, she is important to us, so if you don’t feel able to do this please let me know. She needs to be in the house by sunset as there is a Caracal (medium-sized wild cat native to Africa) in our area who eats cats. She is let out once you wake upand spends most of the day sleeping.
She can be fed by a friend should you want to be away for a few days exploring. We will need to arrange this so need warning please.

We will arrange for our splendid cleaner Thelma to come to clean every second week, she will throughly sanitse the whole house and do laundry if needed. We will pay for this service. If you require her for other weeks please arrange with her.

There are burglar bars on all windows and a baboon gate so your front door can stay open without having a visitor, all made from clear material so not intrusive.

The front gate has a lock and is only accessed with a key.

We have TV Netflix, Showmax and Prime.

ADT Alarm system linked to a Security company for safely.

About the location

Our home, is perched up the side of a mountain, in a beautiful part of the Western Cape Peninsula. From our deck the view is across False Bay to the Hottentot Holland mountains. We’re a short stroll downhill from Fisherman’s Beach, a bit of a puff on the way back! We’re about a 10 minute drive from historic Simon’s Town, first settled in 1677. The harbour is home to South Africa’s modest navy.

Simon’s Town is basically one street of mostly Victorian buildings, with steep cobbled back streets dotted along it. The town has a good selection of shops, café’s and restaurants. In Jubilee square market traders sell traditional South African crafts.

Down the road is Boulder’s Beach, with its famous colony of Jackass penguins.

Carry on for another 20 minutes and you’ll come to the stunning Cape Point Nature Reserve and Scarborough village.

Head the other way out of town and you’ll come to Harbour Bay shopping Mall with a Chemist, Pizza and Burger joints, ATM's. On to Fish Hoek; not trendy, but useful for Supermarkets, and some shops that think we’re still in the 1950’s! Plus of course the beautiful long Fish Hoek swimming beach.

Pass through and you’re on the way to Kalk Bay, with its small fishing harbour, antique shops, a small theatre, great restaurants many of them specialising in seafood. Kalk Bay was ranked by Forbes magazine as ‘the coolest neighbourhood in the world’!
Keep going, and on to Muizenberg well known as a surfer’s paradise.

Next.......Cape Town.
It’s about 45 minutes drive from Simon’s Town, mostly on motorway.
There is Theatre, Art, Music, V&A Waterfront Restaurants. A cable car trip to the top of Table Mountain, and world renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens with outdoor concerts every weekend.

And don’t forget....we’re only one hour from the famous winelands of the Cape in Stellenbosch, Constantia and Franschhoek.

A good friend, a local will be on call for any help or queries.
