Thatch Cottage

Our home is a Grade II listed, 16th Century Thatch Cottage with wattle and daub walls, a large bread oven and inglenook, elm wood beams and a well. The house is full of quirky and authentic features and was recently extended to create a large open plan kitchen/ dining area with patio doors to floral/vegetable garden well stocked with salad leaves, tomatoes and plenty of herbs. At the front of the house is ample parking for up to 3 cars and a beautiful rose garden. A much loved family home there is plenty of space in the garden for children to play, two wood burning stoves for chilly evenings, a very well stocked kitchen for cooking and a comfortable lounge to relax.

About the location

Ettington is a lovely little village situated just outside Stratford-upon-Avon which is home to the RSC Stratford: the main house, the Swan Theatre and The Other Place. There are always fabulous performances to attend and you can explore the properties connected to Shakespeare`s life: Mary Arden`s Farm, Ann Hathaway`s cottage, Shakespeare`s Birth Place and Nash`s House. The bonus is, you could be staying in a house very similar to Ann Hathaway`s; with all modern amenities of course. Nestled on the edge of The Cotswolds there are a whole host of picturesque villages to explore and beautiful scenic walks on offer. In terms of dining, Stratford has a Michelin starred restaurant and in the surrounding villages there are some excellent country pubs worth a visit. Both Oxford and Birmingham are a 40 minute drive and there are many local National Trust properties which boast exceptional gardens.
