Charming seaside cottage in picturesque village
Historic seaside 18th century cottage, fully modernised interior, steps from the water (the Forth), 5 minutes walk from North Queensferry train station. Decent ADSL wifi, would suit anyone working from home, like us, who fancies a change of scene.
Full central heating and gas fireplace for those Scottish summers :-) Two bedrooms, will sleep 4 easily. Ideal base for exploring Edinburgh (15-20 minutes away by train) or visiting the beautiful Kingdom of Fife (Aberdour, Anstruther, St Andrews). The property has a private back garden in the shadow of the Forth Rail Bridge (now a UNESCO world heritage monument), and is situated down a quaint cobbled lane that is closed to traffic. If you want to get away from it all but still feel connected to civilisation, this is the place. A little piece of heaven under the three bridges.
About the location
North Queensferry is a small village with a Michelin-mentioned restaurant and a lovely coffee shop as well as a small train station only 5 mins walk, with trains to Edinburgh Haymarket/Waverley taking only 15-20 minutes, or travelling north to Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness... Edinburgh airport is a 15 minute taxi journey, and there are regular buses to and from the airport to the village. It is close to the Fife Coastal Path which offers lovely walks or biking to Inverkeithing, Dalgety Bay and beyond. There are also great walks and biking opportunities just north of the village: Loch Leven for example is only 20 minutes away by car. The three bridges that cross the Forth will take you by car, bike, train or foot to beautiful South Queensferry with many chic eateries and cafes, as well as a large supermarket.
