63 Belmont Road

This house is semi detached, stone faced brick, built at the very start of the 20th century. There is a raised bed front garden. A side alley leads to a concrete yard and a small garden, grass and flowerbeds, edged with bricks. There are 2 small seating areas on paving slabs. The garden is south west facing.
There is a small porch as you enter the front door for coats etc. Front and back living rooms are on the left, which have double doors between them. The hall continues into the kitchen which is a broad galley with a kitchen/dining table at the end overlooking the back garden.

Up the first flight of stairs is an office space; turning to the front and going up 4 more stairs, you reach the first floor where there are 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower over the bath. The front double bedroom has a 5’ double bed, the back bedroom, a single bed that can convert into a double (IKEA).

Up about 12 more stairs is a spacious loft room with a separate shower room. Velux windows at the front and a wall of windows overlooking rooftops at the back.

About the location

We are 5 minutes walk from a much loved 5 sided hilly park, St Andrew’s Park, which boasts a terrific children’s playground, a table tennis table and a wonderful independent cafe which serves hot and cold drinks, hot and cold sandwiches, gorgeous homemade cakes and ice creams, all at knockdown prices.
5 minutes in the other direction is Gloucester Rd, apparently the longest stretch of independent shops in the Uk. Delis, cafes, pubs, fantastic fishmongers and butchers, greengrocers as well as bijou shops, clothes, hairdressers, barbers etc.
Very good bus service to the main shopping centre, connecting to the quay, cinema, and going north up Park St and Whiteladies Rd where you have access to St George’s, Brandon Hill for music and to Museums and art galleries.
Montpelier railway station (10 mins walk away) can take you in to Bristol Temple Meads for trains country wide/ to the Airport or, in the other direction up to Clifton for other lovely shops, restaurants, the Brunel Suspension bridge, the observatory, the Downs and Leigh woods, Ashton Court etc...good walks and achievable from the front door ( a bit of a longer walk!).
There is a friendly community feel in this area, St Andrews, particularly. Our street is one way; still very heavy parking each side of the road, but at least no need for reversing for oncoming traffic.
We have a shepherd’s hut in woodland 1 and a half hrs drive away in south Herefordshire which can sleep a couple. It is equipped with a compost toilet and shower, a boiler, a 2 ring calor gas stove and a sink.
