On the edge of the Straits of Malacca, a sunny, airy bright 3-bedroom condo called Sri Golden Bay in Penang, Malaysia.

Our condo unit is 2,880 sq foot in size. The condo has an elevated private swimming pool and overlooks the sea where sunsets are stupendous. There are two patios with weather-beatened cane chairs for easy reading, sipping mojitos or just watching the glorious sun set.

The Master Bedroom is very large. It comes with a king-sized bed, and a two-seater sofa for watching telly. The ensuite bathroom has a jaccuzzi for evening soaks as well as shower stall for quick showers.

Another cozy bedroom has a queen sized bed with ensuite bathroom and toilet which is usually reserved as a guest room for singles or another couple.

The third room is used as an art studio-cum-computer room.

The living room is bright and airy with comfortable sofas and even a massage bed for in-house private massage which is very inexpensive in Penang. In fact, we have 2 such beds and it is quite an experience to have massages in your own home while listening to the sound of waves in the distance.

There two kitchens - for dry and heavy cooking. But, honestly, who needs to cook in Penang?

A Malaysian-born, London-based food blogger(theboywhoatetheworld) has this to say :
" Penang is the Street Food capital of the world ! There are more hawker food stalls per square foot than probably any other place in the world. It is a foodie`s dream come true. There is a kaleidoscope of different food cultures and traditions at play here, spanning Chinese, Indian, Malay, Mamak and Nyonya cuisines."

Add to that the sun, sea, sandy beaches and old world Colonial charm of Georgetown and it`s a no wonder that people retire to Penang from all over the world.

George Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Towns like Batu Ferringhi on the north coast with white sandy beaches, luxurious hotels & restaurants, a favorite spot for both locals & tourists or Balik Pulau a small town nestled among Malay villages, fruit orchards, and padi fields. Others like Teluk Bahang, a quiet little fishing village at the northwestern tip of the island and Tanjung Bungah used to be a fishing village but now is a resort area with large hotels and residential condos built along the beach.

Penang Island was named Prince of Wales Island when it was occupied by the British East India Company but later changed to Georgetown, after the reign King George III.
