About the location
From the Travel Correspondent with the Daily Mail (English):
"Well what can I tell you about Dalyan? I`m a travel agent so I`ve been quite lucky and have been able to travel all over the world, but Dalyan is by far the prettiest place I have ever been!
The town is situated around a river. There are LOADS of things to do there, although it doesn`t seem like it when you get there, Dalyan is very quiet.
You must go to a few places:
The Saturday market The market is fantastic fun, and remember to haggle haggle haggle! We managed to get 6 vests (Nike) for £10 and 4 pairs of shorts (Adidas) for £10. They like English money on the market so make sure you`ve got a few £10 notes at the ready you`ll get a bargain there.
All of the stuff is knock off, but really good quality and all of the big names are there. Diesel, Miss Sixty, CK, etc. Next year I`m taking an empty suitcase with me and filling it up with stuff.
Mud Baths A fab day out for nearly nothing. If you hire a boat for the day (which is really cheap) you can get one for about TYL 40 which is about £16 we had one that picked us up at 10am and dropped us off at 7pm, he took us wherever we wanted and only charged us that!
The mud baths are brilliant if not smelly! If you do, go DO NOT go to the one that the tourists go to, (the first one) go to the second one on the river (It has a big blue and white dome) this is where the locals go and it is not busy at all. You can do the mud baths, and 3 sulphur baths for TYL 3 (about £1.50!!)
Inside the dome there are people that will give you a massage for about £10.
Canos This is an ancient town over the mountains, you need to go to the end of the river (Near the boats) and ask for DaDa, this is a little man who will put you in a boat and row you across the river, after that it is about a 10-15min walk up a path and you will get there, you will pass one of the tombs (which is amazing) and you can go up to it as well.
If you are going to go to Canos don`t go in the afternoon as it is SOOOOOO hot, you will burn (take it from me, I did it and it wasn`t nice)
The Beach The beach is really nice but you have to get on a boat to get there, again go to the end of the river where the boats are and ask anyone where the Co-op boat is, they will show you, you can`t really miss it. They will charge TYL 5 for a return ticket, they go every hour there and back.
It will take about 40mins in the boat, I was thinking 40mins !!! but it is a fab boat ride down there, and if you like scenery your in for a treat, keep your camera out ready as they pass by the tombs and stop for a while.
Make sure you take some high factor cream if you burn, I don`t and I was using factor 15 and was still burning!
There are tons of restaurants to try out, they are not pushy like you find in places like Tenerife etc, they will ask you to come in for something to eat etc but if you say no thanks they will not bother you any more.
The Turks are the nicest people you can find, and you will make some lovely friends.
I could go on all day but I wouldn`t want to bore you !!"
