Streams, hills and quiet in the Welsh Marches home swap

The Marches near Hay on Wye, light spacious home in tranquil village, New Radnor.

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, large kitchen and separate living room with views onto the rear garden. It is a spacious, light and airy house that is situated in a quiet village with only the hoot of the owls at night or early bird song. The house is located 2 minutes walk from the village recreational park (tennis court/basket ball/football court). For walkers the Radnorshire Hills surround the village, no need to drive. We have a very large garden good for kicking a ball about, etc. There is a selection of card/board games in the lounge (WiFi and broadband avail). The house does not offer big TV screens but does have all mod cons and Wifi etc.

About the location

New Radnor, 6 miles from the English/Welsh border, offers forests and hill walking (good fungi collecting in autumn). Idyllic for children and a weekend retreat. There are walks (both challenging and easy) to waterfalls (Water-break-its-Neck) and valleys (Harley Valley). There is a village shop, ESCOs. Beyond New Radnor, by car or local bus: Ludlow and surrounding `Mortimer country`. Hereford Cathedral (Mappa Mundi). Knighton`s Offa`s Dyke Centre and observatory (visited by Steven Hawkins); Kington - has The Burton Hotel Spa (https://www.burtonhotel.co.uk/attractions) Hergest Ridge (inspired Mike Oldfield`s album `Tubular Bells`). If you like owls head to the `Small Breeds Farm` and the highest golf course in England/Wales. A meandering drive via Old Radnor for beautiiful sunsets and a nice pub, The Harp Inn. On to Hay-on-Wye where you can indulge in 2nd hand books and trendy bars/cafes. Presteigne, offers art, `flicks in the sticks` films and the Judge`s Lodgings - a great family day out. `Broadsheep` magazine on-line gives a comprehensive `what`s on` in The Marches territory. Elan Valley is a beautiful drive away where there are some impressive dams, cycle paths, red kite feeding and is a designated International Dark Sky location. The coast is 1 hr 15 mins away for Aberystwth or Borth with great sand dunes.
