Architect-designed property

Tailored to my needs, my home was built in mid-2017. It has an open- plan living space encompassing the kitchen (with a large walk-in pantry), study and areas for dining and sitting. This open-plan space accesses an extensive deck - great for al fresco dining and barbecues - and a sunny north-facing garden. The three bedrooms (the master has an en suite shower room and walk-in wardrobe) also have direct access to the landscaped garden. The laundry is the link to an integral double garage. A walled hard-pave service yard behind the garage includes a washing line and a raised vegetable garden which provides an ample supply of lemons, herbs and seasonal produce.

About the location

An attractive seaside city, Napier has a population of about 60,000. Located on the east coast of the North Island, it enjoys one of the best climates in New Zealand. A popular visitor destination, it has one of the most complete collections of Art Deco buildings in the world. As well as a lively cafe culture, great restaurants encourage dining out. Facing the charming inner harbour, bars have decks with views of moored fishing boats and yachts. Boutique shops in the seaside suburb of Ahuriri and in downtown Napier are a must-see, and keep an eye out too for colourful maritime-themed murals painted on more than 50 city buildings.

Marine Parade is the scenic link between downtown Napier and a sweeping panorama of Pacific Ocean. Attractions here include the National Aquarium of New Zealand, sculptures and fountains, the Ocean Spa swimming complex, children’s playgrounds, Par2 minigolf and a succession of gardens. A viewing platform projects out into the bay.

One of this country`s leading wine writers, Michael Cooper says Hawke`s Bay is the aristocrat of New Zealand`s wine regions. The diverse terroirs suit a wide variety of classical grapes and encourage creative winemaking. With more than 30 wineries to choose from, visitors can indulge in cellar door tastings and dine out at winery restaurants.

A well-developed network of flat trails - some 200kms in all - traverse the region, offering cycling and walking routes that follow the coast and riverbanks and traverse wine country. Tennis and golf enthusiasts are also well provided for, and the setting for one of the world's best golf courses is at Cape Kidnappers, where dramatic limestone cliffs drop down to the bay.
