Green Acres
Our house is a large semi-detached, located in the beautiful hamlet of Shatton in the Peak District.
The ground floor has a spacious, light and airy open-plan kitchen diner, a sitting room with log burner and baby grand piano, plus utility room and cloakroom.
On the first floor there is a bright and airy master bedroom with en-suite, two double bedrooms with double beds and family bathroom.
There is a recently converted attic bedroom on the second floor with double bed.
Outside we have 3 garden areas - to the front is where we like to eat, to the rear there is decking from the kitchen and a hard standing area, then about 10m down a stairway, we have a large garden with trampoline, where we keep our 5 chickens, leading down to the river Noe.
There is off road parking for up to 3 vehicles.
The garage contains several road and mountain bikes, which you are welcome to borrow.
A simultaneous swap would be preferable so our friendly cat, Smartie and chickens could be fed - both are very low maintenance!
About the location
We live in the Hope Valley in the Peak District, a popular holiday destination for walking, running, mountain biking and climbing. Shatton is a hamlet, but less than 5 minutes away is Hathersage, a bustling village with pubs, bars, butchers, green grocer and an outdoor pool. Opposite Shatton is the High Peak Garden Centre with the Edge Farm Shop and bar and the Wild Kettle Cafe. Bamford Tennis Club, a 5 minute walk from our house, invites people to play who are on holiday in the area. We are spoilt with many footpaths from the front door, taking in spectacular views of the Hope Valley, Ladybower Reservoir, Bamford and Stanage Edges and Kinder Scout. At the far end of the valley is Castleton, a popular village with show caves and source of the local Blue John stone. It takes less than 30 minutes to drive to the centres of Sheffield, Bakewell and Buxton and from Bamford Station, which is a 10 minute walk away, you can get the train to Manchester and Sheffield.
