Spacious house in charming rural setting
Our house is in the heart of a small fell-side village/community on the northern slopes of the beautiful Eden Valley in Cumbria within the North Pennines AONB. Over the last few years, we have converted 2 cottages and barn to make a large, comfortable and slightly eccentric family home.
The floor area is @400 sqm. There are five bedrooms (3 ensuite), a family bathroom and a couple of cloakrooms. There are breathtaking views to the rear of the property onto the northern fells, which can be gazed at from the large glass doors looking out from the open plan kitchen-dining room. The view is massive and beautiful with no cars or inhabited buildings in sight. To the front, there is a pretty village green which is a Conservation Area.
The building was renovated to a high standard and has very low carbon footprint (solar, ground source heating) with a mixture of traditional and modern materials. There is underfloor heating throughout and a modern woodburner.
We have a large garden, with an excellent ground-level trampoline and outdoor table tennis table. We are now fortunate to have very fast fibre broadband throughout and 4G back-up. There is a piano. There are a few unfinished edges but nothing that will ruin the view. The house is also home to our two cats: Nora and Alice. We would ask you to please feed them and let them in and out.
About the location
The Eden Valley is in Cumbria. We are about 15 miles to the East of Penrith and the M6 and Mainline railway. We are ideally situated between the North Pennines, the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales.
Our village is on the Pennine Way. You can walk in all directions from the house. There are excellent fell-side cycling routes and many of wild swimming spots. Ullswater is the closest lake in the Lake District and is 35 minutes away. The northern Pennines are literally out of the back door and offer miles of beautiful walks.
