Hamilton, population 120,000, is situated in the centre of the Waikato region, a rich agricultural and pastoral area. It is a rapidly growing city, widely known for its agricultural research, stud farms, annual Agricultural Field Days (June) and Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (April). Abundant parks, walkways, river jet boating and cruises, University, and a zoo add to its appeal.
It is centrally placed for many major attractions – 40 minutes to the underground wonders and adventures of Waitomo Caves; 1.5hrs to Auckland city and to the Rotorua thermal area, east & west coast beaches, 2hrs to the trout fishing mecca of Taupo; 3 hrs to Mt Ruapehu skiing (in season) & tramping.
Links by air, road and rail to rest of the country.
We are in our early 60’s, a retired professional couple, husband a Rotarian.
Although our dream is for a 6 month stay in the UK, we will consider any offers for 2005.
