We modernized our retirement cottage (1845) in the appropriate areas, i.e. kitchen and baths with sensitivity to retain the character of our home. Family antiques/oriental rugs, memorabilia, original art add to the decor. The "great hall" dominated by a native stone fireplace extends to the ceiling, giving unique charm. A wide variety of birds come to our feeders and visitors from our mountain, deer, fox, racoons, pass through our 2 acres of grounds. Our setting is at the base of Beartown Mtn with its 10,000 acres of state forest. Our grounds extend almost to the river. We are in the heart of the Berkshires with cultural bliss year around, home to Tanglewood (Boston Symphony), live theatre, Norman Rockwell Museum, etc. 5 minutes to famous Red Lion Inn and other restaurants, unusual boutiques in the village. Stockbridge has been home to 5 embassadors as well as the literati and artists.
