Views from home are not brilliant, but location is. 1 mile from A1 and 3 1/2 miles from M62 so travel to anywhere in UK is easy and nearest airport for Continent is Doncaster (20 miles approx.) plus Hull (ferries to Continent - 30 miles). Historic city of York is 30 miles and Leeds, a modern city, only 17 miles away.

Yorkshire Dales are within 50 miles. If you are interested in horse racing there are eleven tracks within a 100 mile radius.
Other sports include Indoor skiing, both Rugby League and Union football, Soccer and Cricket plus Pontefract is home to British Squash champion.

There are two major Sweet factories in the town, both with shops for the public, Pontefract being the original major source of liquorice sweets.

My home has been subject of three previous exchanges to Fort Worth, Texas (which was subject of 'Home from Home' programme on Channel 4 TV) and Brisbane and near Geelong, Australia.
