Our home

Our home in Anglesey is on a hillside overlooking Beaumaris town and the Menai Strait. We have dramatic views along the North Wales coastline from the Great Orme at Llandudno in the East to the Glyder mountains in Snowdonia in the West, a distance of about 30 kilometres. The house is on a cul-de-sac where there is little traffic and to the rear of the house is mature woodland. It is therefore very quiet here.

The main accommodation is at the upstairs level to take full advantage of the views - conservatory, lounge/dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom, cloakroom and office. At the downstairs level, there is the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a study and the laundry room.

About the location

The town of Beaumaris has around 2000 inhabitants and has a very long history. King Edward I built his last castle here in about 1294 and the ruins of the castle may be visited. The parish church dates from the early 1300's. The town has some very old buildings dating from the 1600's. One of these, Ye Olde Bull's Head Hotel, has one of the finest restaurants in Wales. The town is about 10 minutes walk away: it has a range of shops including a small supermarket.

Anglesey is a paradise for those who like walking. There are coastal routes, forests, nature reserves and a wealth of historical sites to see along the way. It is also a haven for the native red squirrels which are often seen in the garden and woodland behind the house. Nearby, on the mainland, the mountains of Snowdonia, the Lleyn Peninsula, Portmeirion, Betws-y-Coed, the castles at Conwy and Caernarfon, and the Welsh Highland Railway can all be reached easily by car. It is feasible to spend a day in Dublin using the high speed ferry from Holyhead.
