Lovely country house on olive terraced hill 20 minute drive from Pisa

Our house is half way up a steeply terraced hillside. The house is spacious (3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms). It is surrounded by olive terraces and a pine wood. It is 20 minutes from Pisa and Pisa Airport (with connections to 50 cities in Europe and North Africa), 30 minutes from Lucca, and one hour by train from Pisa to Florence.

The kitchen opens onto a terracotta tiled patio again with views overlooking the valley, perfect for summer meals outside.

There are wonderful hilly walks all around the house and amongst the surrounding olive groves. The whole valley forms part of a protected nature reserve.

The nearest hamlet, Castelmaggiore, which is a 5 minute walk from the house, down our rather steep bumpy drive, has a small food shop. Nearest small town: Calci.

There are three restaurants within walking distance (between 10-35 minutes on foot) and at least another 10 within a 5 km radius.

About the location

The house provides a great base for visiting Pisa (20 mins), Lucca (30), Florence (60), Siena (90), Volterra (90), San Gimignano (90) and the Cinque Terre (90 mins by train from Pisa). The nearest seaside is 30 km away in Marina di Vecchiano.
