We live in a two-bedroom in cottage in the inner-city suburb of Erskineville, a perfect example of Sydney's desire to be a city of villages. With upmarket shops, cafes, restaurants and several pubs it's got a real local feel, but is nine minutes on the train from Central Station (and 16 from Circular Quay, home to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge). The beach is a 20 minute drive, while the neighbouring suburb of Newtown is Sydney's foodie heaven, with upwards of 100 restaurants within comfortable strolling distance.
The house has living, dining and kitchen, bathroom plus two bedrooms upstairs. There's a beautiful courtyard full of plants and built in seating to enjoy the Sydney warm summer evenings, plus hundreds of books and CDs.
