We live in Putney, a residential suburb of SW London. Shops/cinemas are 5 min drive as is Wimbledon, home of tennis. Exchange inc 5 bikes as there is easy access to cycle paths in Richmond Park (5 mins) as well as the Thames towpath along which you can cycle to Hampton Court or Windsor!
London's museums, galleries, theatres and shopping are 30 mins by public transport. The A3 is 2 mins and this gives easy access to SW England (Winchester and Stonehenge). Hampton Ct and Kew Gardens are 25 mins by car, Oxford 60 mins, St Albans 70 mins.
We have a lg garden with trampoline, deck & BBQ, games & toys, piano, books, DVDs (& the dreaded PS2), WiFi. Our home is clean & tidy but at heart a family home with a comfy, easy feel.
