Come and visit Lewes, the vibrant county town of East Sussex and former home of Thomas Paine. The town has lots of beautiful buildings, small independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants(including the famous Bill’s Produce Store), a Norman castle and a brewery, plus connections with the Bloomsbury Group (Charleston farmhouse and Virginia Woolf’s Monks House are both a few miles away).
Our 4 storey, 3-bedroomed Victorian (1870) house, in a friendly street, has a large living room and dining kitchen, plus a pretty and sunny south-facing garden. Southover Grange Gardens are at the end of the street, and Anne of Cleves House is round the corner. It’s just 10 minutes walk to the South Downs countryside, and 7 minutes walk to the train station, with frequent trains to the cosmopolitan seaside city of Brighton (15 minutes) and London (60 minutes). Gatwick airport is 30 minutes away and France is easily accessible by rail or sea.
