Victorian Sussex cottage (near Lewes)

Our home is a three bedroom cottage in the centre of the village of East Hoathly Two of the bedrooms have double beds and there is a single fold up bed which can be used in the study. We have a spacious bathroom which has toilet, bath and a separate shower cubicle.

On the ground floor is a sitting room and a large kitchen/diner. In the hall a cloakroom with second toilet and washbasin.
There are 2 TVs ( one with Sky sports), a huge selection of CDs, DVDs and books. We have wifi and a wireless printer.
The house is cosy in winter. It has efficient heating and, if you wish, an open fire in the sitting room.

The kitchen is well equipped - electric hob, double oven, washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer .
At the back of the house is a secluded, sunny patio area with table and chairs. At the front is a well stocked colourful,English cottage garden. No grass to cut!

About the location

East Hoathly is a typical, pretty English village. It has a pub serving good food and brewing its own beer. Our home is in the village centre right next to the well stocked village shop and post office. There is also a hairdresser, coffee shop and second hand bookshop.

Behind the house is a recreation ground with a children’s play area.

There are tennis courts and a playground on the recreation ground behind our cottage. The nearest golf course is about a mile away and there are many others in the area. There are several swimming pools a few minutes drive away.

The village is on the edge of the Southdown National Park and the Weald Way (Canterbury to Eastbourne) passes through the village. Nearby is the Southdowns Way which runs from Eastbourne to Winchester. The County Town of Lewes with its castle, historic architectureand interesting individual shops is 15 mins drive. Eastbourne and cosmopolitan Brighton(coastal towns) are 25 and30mins away.

The area has many pretty villages and numerous National Trust and other historic houses and castles. Glyndebourne Opera House is very close and there are many theatres galleries and museums in the area.
Gatwick airport is 45mins drive and Heathrow 90mins. The channel port at Newhaven can be reached in about 30mins and Dover and euro tunnel in 2 hours. The nearest train station is 12mins away and there are hourly trains to London(70mins).
