Lovely house in a great city

Welcome to our house in a very green and quiet part of Düsseldorf. It consists of our flat on two levels and a separate flat on the second floor, where a friend lives. Our flat has two bedrooms (one with a comfortable sofa bed), a study, a toilet and bath on the first floor and a large living room with a dining area, a kitchen and a toilet on the ground floor. As our bedroom is very small we normally offer our exchange partners our guest room with desk, wardrobe and TV. There are lots of books in German and English, a 3D-TV and a DVD player (and of course DVDs, in English too) in our living room and many books about Düsseldorf and the region in the guest room. You can relax in our small garden with a lot of flowers that is sunny and beautiful in summer. There are many birds and sometimes red squirrels who live in the park of Benrath palace. If you stay in the garden until dusk you can often watch bats there. In the cellar you will find two good bicycles for trips to lakes near Benrath or the medieval town of Zons on the other side of the Rhine.

About the location

We live in Urdenbach/Benrath, a quiet southern suburb of Düsseldorf, 200 m from the River Rhine. A park and a nature reserve (Urdenbacher Kämpe), shops and restaurants are nearby - baker in Urdenbach 10 minutes, lots of shops in Benrath 20 minutes walk. Benrath is a large suburb and you can get there everything you want. Restaurants are from 5 to 20 minutes walk here in Urdenbach or Benrath and a lot more in Düsseldorf centre. This means 30 minutes by car or a bit more by bus/train - public transport is good with busses, tram and train from Benrath station.

Düsseldorf is a very green city, well known for science, business, fashion and culture. There are nice promenades along the Rhine and the centre as well as the media harbour have some interesting architecture. Many museums, galleries, theatres and an opera house are waiting for you. Walks are possible from the doorstep of our house to the park of Benrath Palace or a nature reserve near the River Rhine. There are a lot of possibilities for cycling tours in the surrounding forests or for swimming in the lake ‚Unterbacher See’. Düsseldorf has a lot of parks and forests and your can go by ship on the Rhine to Cologne, Duisburg with its large harbour or to Dutch cities. With the car you can reach a lot of sights along the Rhine and Moselle or more mountainous regions like Eifel and Sauerland. There are regular trains to Cologne with the famous cathedral and the Ruhr with its well known industrial heritage (collieries, steel industry) as well as to Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Brussels and Paris.
