Spacious family home - North Devon

We are in the process of renovating our home in preparation for house swaps in 2022.
We are very lucky to have a huge house with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two lounges and two home offices as well as a cinema room in the garden. Most rooms in the house have now been renovated and are newly furnished. The kitchen has yet to be completed but it has lovely old units and an aga which is great in the winter and switched off in the summer.

We have a big driveway that can fit multiple cars and a car swap could be arranged if you are visiting from overseas. A car is really helpful in our area to visit all the local beaches and countryside.

The garden is very spacious and we have a trampoline and a swing. We do a have a resident guinea pig that would need food daily. We have a gorgeous dog who we do like to bring with us when we can (UK swaps). He stays downstairs and off sofas/chairs. We are happy to have well behaved dogs here who do the same. Unfortunately we can't stay anywhere with a cat due to allergies.

About the location

We live on the outskirts of Barnstaple, about 15 minutes walk from the town centre but on the right side for easy access to the beautiful beaches.

North Devon is a stunning area of the south west of England. It is probably best known for its great surfing beaches, but also the beauty of Exmoor. The beaches of Croyde, Saunton and Putsborough are within 15-20 minutes drive although there is a lot more to do if beaches aren`t your thing. The south west coastal path is beautiful and Exmoor is within 15-30 minutes drive, so there are tons of great walks with beautiful scenery. The Tarka trail is a long cycle route that follows much of the coastal path, and is very popular with families who can be found cycling with kids on pull-alongs, trailers, tandem bikes etc. If you have children there are quite a few days out that are great for kids, and we can suggest a whole variety of activities that will keep you going. Have a look online for the Big Sheep, the Milky Way, Watermouth Castle, Lynton Cliff Railway, Rosemoor, and Arlington Court (NT). You might also want to have a look at Hartland Quay, Westward Ho! and Clovelly.

For older kids there is the North Devon wake park where there is an aqua park and wakeboarding, and more locally there is a trampoline park, swimming pool, cinema, as well as opportunities for horse-riding, kayaking, paddleboarding, and all kinds of other watersports.

If you fancied travelling further afield, you can also access south Devon and North Cornwall easily within a few hours, so a shopping trip to Exeter is easily within reach.
