Traditional Victorian semi detached house - Callander, Stirlingshire

Our home is a renovated 1880 traditional house in the small town of Callander. I have included a link here showing photographs of the house and places which are walking or cycling distance from the house https://www.flickr.com/photos/154006111@N04/.

If you go to the introduction on this site there is another flickr link to images largely around the west of Scotland.

Our home is a typical Victorian period house with high ceilings , fireplaces and furniture in keeping with the style of the house . Our home is in the oldest part of the historic town and is five minutes walk to the shops and about 10 minutes walk to the loch and river.

We have renovated the house with new kitchen, heating system, bathrooms and ensuite bedroom and stripped the floors etc . The front of the house feels like its in the town and has parking outside and the rear is in the hills which you can see from the images. It has 3/4 bedrooms, a dining room , good sized panelled kitchen ,living room with open fireplace and a large garden with views to the hills and river . The house is warm and has good insulation. There is lots of old furniture and art courtesy (largely) of our daughter. Our house is five minutes walk to a good bakery/restaurant/cafes and ten minutes to the loch side. We have a range of bikes and it may be possible to use a car here .

About the location

Callander is in the heart of the Trossachs national park. It is known as the gateway to the Highlands

People come to the area for the countryside and Trossachs has excellent accessible cycling and walking locally. Slightly further afield are the beautiful remote glens of Perthshire and the lovely small towns such as Aberfeldy and Dunkeld. Callander is 20 minutes by road to the mainline trains to Edinburgh or Glasgow (40/50 minutes) . People work in the bigger cities so its possible to have a country half day and an afternoon /evening out in the city or a full day out . Further north from Callander are the well known hills and glens of Glencoe and the Highlands.

Callander itself has a range of eating places, supermarkets, shops , bakeries a leisure centre but importantly for us its possible to leave the shops behind and be beside a loch or above the town and look out to remote hills and trails in a few minutes.
