A modern sunny detached house that is a 5 minute cycle ride to town

A detached house near a wooded area which is within walking distance of the city centre. Our house really has lots of light plus 2 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms and easily sleeps 7 over 3 floors.
We have at least 4 bikes to help you explore the locality as Drenthe is the cycling county of the Netherlands.
Our garden has sun in it more or less the whole day during the summer and a glass of wine of an evening is possible if Dutch weather plays fair. There is a vegetable patch too although this year it has not had much TLC. From the upstairs rooms facing the canal, boats can be seen making their way to and fro.

There are lots of fab things to do in the locality included a fabulous local museum, a theatre and cinema with library that have won national prizes as well further afield Camp Westerbork (10 minutes by car)- the former WW2 transit camp, student city Groningen with its spaceship like Forum library and cinema, cycling along 100`s of kms of super cycle paths, or if into motorbikes Assen is home to the Dutch TT. We are easy to access via excellent public transport from Amsterdam as well as having a car that can be used. A local airport (Groningen) offers direct flights to London as well as Majorca, Barcelona and Turkey.

Assen is a short drive to Groningen and the German border an hour away and the drive/direct train to Amsterdam/Schiphol is 2 hours. The Dutch islands are accessible an hour away as is Borkum the nearest German island which can be accessed by taking the train from Assen to Groningen and then to Eemshaven - it is a great day out. For those who love sailing there are lakes nearby with boats to rent. in Assen itself there is a lake with a sandy beach.
Assen is a great place for people who actually want to visit the Netherlands and its location makes it ideal for visitors to see as much or as little as takes their fancy.
