A modern two storey home situated in a market town
We are now looking for 2023 exchanges, particularly from July onwards. We'd like a 1-2 week exchange in the UK, Devon would be a favourite, but also shorter city breaks such as Bristol, Bath, Lincoln, Edinburgh, which could be in late 2022 or 2023. But we are open to offers.
Situated half way between London and Cambridge (30 miles each way) and on the main train line into London and Cambridge (35 minutes). It takes only 35 mins to get into London Liverpool Street station on the Stansted Express. Cambridge can also be reached by train, or there are Park and Ride facilities on the outskirts of the city.
Our home has 3 bedrooms, but one is used as an office so there are only two bedrooms to use - one double, one twin. We have a main bathroom and an en-suite shower room off the main bedroom, with an additional toilet downstairs.
The house is situated close to supermarket, cafe, post office and pharmacy, with a very pleasant country pub at the end of the road which serves good and reasonably priced food.
We have a very easy to look after cat for whom we need pet care. He can be left overnight and arrangements could be make with a neighbour to feed him. There is a cat flap so can enter and leave the house, but we need exchangers who are not allergic to cats.
About the location
Bishops Stortford is an old market town surrounded by pretty countryside and quaint villages of East Anglia. The coastal towns and villages of Norfolk and Suffolk can be easily reached by car and make a nice day out.
The town has numerous shops and restaurants and is within 30 mins walk, or 5 mins drive. There is a bus stop at the end of our road.
We are near to Hatfield Forest and Epping Forest, and we have a number of historic houses and gardens nearby which are run by the National Trust (Wimpole Hall and Anglesey Abbey are favourites) and English Heritage (Audley End).
The lovely old towns of Saffron Walden, St Albans, Hertford, Ware and Colchester are within a short drive away and the sculptor Henry Moore lived only 5 miles down the road from us and his house and garden are a must for visitors
