Our apartment at les Mandariniers - Le Lavandou

Our apartment is a comfortable winter home for us, with a glimpse of the the shore from the patio garden and within 3 minutes of the harbour, shops, many restaurants and beaches.

We are at ground floor level, but 2 floors down from the car park, and set on a hill overlooking the whole coastline. There are 2 pools within the complex, which comprises 4 low-rise apartment blocks.

The town of Le Lavandou is a boutique town with a neighbourly feel to it especially out of season. We, however, seek mainly to travel away from the summer crowds, although younger exchangers will love the bustle of the Mediterranean summer season, the heat, sunshine, beachlife, weekly fireworks and festivals without the glitz of Nice and Cannes.

About the location

The Mediterranean is well-known for its hot summers and beach-lovers. Le Lavandou is quieter, more refined, offering a myriad of small boutiques,12 family beaches including that of the Presidential holiday residence, the Fort de Bregancon, numerous small restaurants mostly serving local fish, and is considered an upmarket resort that French people love to visit, although other Europeans are discovering its merits. There is a golf practice course and tennis club and open air theatre in the town centre. Nearby Toulon has a reputable Opera House and many classical concerts are held in nearby churches. Ferry boats visit the natural reserves on the islands 30 minutes out to sea, St Tropez, and buses run along the coast, serving nearby Hyeres and Toulon airport and train stations.
