Pomegranate House - Greek Island
Our house is a beautiful two storey island stone-built house. Although only ten years old it was built with traditional materials and blends in perfectly with nearby older houses but has the advantage of mod-cons such as underfloor heating, double glazing and air-conditioning. It has mountain views but is a just a ten-minute walk from the nearest rocky swimming spot.
About the location
Hydra is a beautiful car free island 1.5 hours from Piraeus by Flying Dolphin and 30 minutes by boat from the Peloponnese with easy access to Epidavros, Mycene and many other ancient sites. The house is in Kamini only 10 minutes from Hydra town but much quieter and with its own small harbour. You have to get around on foot or by water taxi and bags can be transported by donkey or mule. It is not suitable for people with mobility problems. There are several nearby swimming spots (not sandy beaches), tavernas and local shops. Hydra is wonderful for walking (except in the heat of the summer) and in spring there is wealth of wild flowers.
