Secret Meadow - Weekmoor

Our home is a timber framed single storey house that looks like a log cabin. It`s set in almost 3 acres of wild garden, with a wide range of trees, including ancient oaks with resident owls. The main living area is open plan, with books, pictures and plenty of seating for friends and family. There`s a dining area and a kitchen area, but it`s all part of the same sociable space. There are two bedrooms, one larger with a double bed and one smaller with a double bed that folds upright and becomes an office. You don`t have to make it or move anything - just put it away or you can leave it down as a bed fulltime. We also have a utility room and a decent sized bathroom with a separate bath and shower.

Outside there are large areas of rough lawn, lots of trees, seasonal ponds, tons of wildlife, several sheds, a large greenhouse that used to be a plant nursery, and a carport. We are surrounded by farmland with footpaths on all sides, and are a mile each way to the villages of Milverton in one direction and Oake in the other.

We are almost off-grid, with full solar, batteries, an electric vehicle charging point in the carport and solar thermal hot water.

About the location

The Vale of Taunton Deane is the farmed area between the M% and the county town of Taunton and the hills and moors of Exmoor, The Brendons, Quantocks and Blackdowns.

We are 20 minutes drive from Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Blackdown Hills, and about 35 minutes drive to either coast - Watchet to the north/west and Sidmouth to the south/east.

Our nearest shop and pub is in Milverton, with the larger village/small town of Wiveliscombe just 4 miles away with shops, lively pubs, a Saturday market, co-op, doctor`s surgery and a range of businesses. Just 5 miles away is Wellington, bigger again and with a good range of national and independent shops, including a Waitrose. There is also a sports centre in the town with a pool. Oake golf course is under a mile away along our lane.
