Recently modernised 1950s semi-detached house - Exeter

Our home is a traditional 1950s semi-detached property featuring kitchen/diner, lounge and toilet on the ground floor and 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. The adjoining garage is used a utility area and, whilst we wouldn`t call it a gym, we do also use it as a workout space with a treadmill and some free weights available. The back garden is a spacious lawned area and a real sun trap during the summer months.

Our home is situated in a quiet street on a housing estate in the suburb of Pinhoe, which is 4 miles from the centre of Exeter. Bus and train links to the centre of Exeter are good (4 minutes on the train) and a taxi costs around £8 for a single journey off-peak. We are very close to supermarkets Sainsburys (0.5 miles), Aldi (0.4 miles), Tesco (3 miles) and Ikea (3 miles). Our home is a 5 minute drive from junction 29/30 on the M5, which links us to the rest of the UK. You can drive (90 minutes) or take the train (60 minutes) to Bristol if you want to explore a larger city. Dartmoor National Park can be reached in 30 minutes and access is easy to all of the beaches on the south coast of Devon and Dorset.

About the location

Exeter is a lovely city with lots to see and do. It is situated on the River Exe and has many historical features such as the Roman City Walls, the Gothic Cathedral and the Norman Castle. There are also medieval Underground Passages which lie beneath the city centre. The Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) have a selection of fine art and costumes on display, and there are numerous official sightseeing walks and tours that you can join.

The Dartmoor National Park (30 minute drive from our home) is a vast moorland in the heart of Devon. Dartmoor ponies roam its craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and tors (rock formations). Trails wind through valleys with Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses. The area is dotted with villages, including Princetown, home to Dartmoor Prison used during the Napoleonic Wars.

South Devon has some of the best beaches in England, and all of them are easily accessible from our home. Crystal clear waters, large sandy beaches and beautiful secluded coves are all within reach.
