Offenham

A mid 18th century cottage with pretty garden, wood-burning stove and low beams. Ideal for couple or small family seeking a base to enjoy Cheltenham`s many cultural events or for exploring the delights of the Cotswolds.

We have a small, private, south-facing garden with lawn, potager, patio and greenhouse. There is also a newly-built garden room/office which is a pleasant space to relax and take in the garden with a cup of tea or glass of wine. You can even have an afternoon nap on the sofabed!

Offenham cottage is tucked in behind a slightly larger white house, so we face side-on to Mill Street - a quiet road often used by riders exercising their horses.

Inside the cottage there is a small kitchen with small boot room/loo and the usual amenities including an easy-to-use induction hob. The living room is spacious for a small cottage and includes a large inglenook fireplace with wood-burning stove, three seater sofa and two chairs plus a dining area. Upstairs there is a bathroom with bath and shower, plus two bedrooms.

You can watch Freeview, Netflix and YouTube on our smart television whilst you`re here, and if you want to watch tv whilst another guest is listening to the kitchen radio (or you want to keep the room quiet whilst the cats are snuggling next to you!) you can listen to the tv with your own earphones. We also have Google smart speakers which are usually turned off but you are welcome to use them.

Please note that we will only consider swapping with other cat-owners, so that we can look after each other's cats.

We have two very friendly three year-old siblings, Coco and Claude, who we keep in at night and who we feed three times a day. Should you wish to be out at lunchtime or evening we can provide timer feeders for one of their feeds. We promise to take as much care of your cat/s as we hope you will with ours. As part of the exchange we would want details of your cat's care and needs, as well as contact details of your vet.

We are looking to swap no more than one week within the UK between March and October, or in Europe during September or October.

About the location

Prestbury is an historic village on the edge of Cheltenham and close to the foot of Cleeve Hill with its golf course and stunning views over the Severn Vale. It is reputed to be the most haunted village in England!

Prestbury has three excellent old pubs, two with gardens, each of which provide good quality food (one is owned by the famous chef Raymond Blanc). The nearby one, The Plough' has a charming garden and also does excellent takeaways - their gluten-free fish and chips are a particularly nice treat. Our village shop has a thatched roof and its staff are especially welcoming. There is also a new café in the village that provides excellent coffee as well as home-made cakes and freshly-baked breads.

There are pleasant walks around the village and along the perimeter of the famous Cheltenham Racecourse which is just over half a mile away. If you fancy lunch or afternoon tea at a 15th-century estate you could stroll to the magnificent Ellenborough Park Hotel at nearby Southam.

If you enjoy longer walks you can go from our cottage via Mill Lane up to Cleeve Hill and then on to Winchcombe - once the capital of medieval Mercia and home to historic Sudeley Castle. Sudeley, which home of one of Henry VIII`s wives Katherine Parr, lies within romantic rose gardens and is set against the gentle backdrop of the Cotswold hills. After lunch in one of the pubs, restaurants or cafes of this delightful small market town you can catch one of the frequent buses back to Prestbury.
