Mas de Martel - Parisot

Our little stone cottage is set in half an acre of wooded hillside a kilometre away from the small village of Parisot in Tarn et Garonne, just over the border from Aveyron. We have two neighbours in our hamlet. The setting is beautifully quiet and secluded. Perfect for bird spotters…golden orioles nesting last spring!

The cottage is tiny ( ground floor original size 20 sq. metres, now 65 sq. metres) -and is very comfortable, modern and warm. We have extended the original cottage and totally renovated throughout.

Downstairs: under-heated limestone tiles in the snug, living room and kitchen, a wood burner; toilet/shower; tv with UK and European channels; good WiFi.

Upstairs: small double bedroom in the eaves with 2 velux windows ( double bed); storage area with round window and 2 velux windows.

Outside; beautiful hilltop garden with dry stone walling, wooden cabin used as jazz shack, 2 sheds, a yoga deck down the hillside and a geodesic dome. Many beautiful mature oak trees. Hammocks ( 3-old! but comfortable) under the trees in the summer.

About the location

Beautiful, green, empty. Mixed farmland. High rocky hillsides and river gorges, deep wooded valleys. Medieval towns ( Parisot is C13). Lots of wildlife; deer, wild boar, red squirrels, pine martens, buzzards, woodpeckers, so many birds and flowers - more wild orchids in Tarn et Garonne than anywhere else in France.
Stunning little towns and markets, very quiet off season; a popular tourist destination in the summer.
