The Old Forge

It is a 16th century cob cottage in West Somerset on the border of Devon.
It is located in the small village of Langford Budville which is within easy reach of several small towns, Wellington and Wiveliscombe, where you can buy everything you need.
There is beautiful countryside all around, and a wildlife nature reserve a short walk away.
Inside, our house is cosy and quirky. The cottage is directly on the lane, but we have a large garden extending up behind the house, which is peaceful and has a lovely view from the top of the orchard.
There is an oil fired Rayburn for cooking and hot water, and this is backed up by solar thermal and an electric immersion heater. We have 2 woodturners, and 3 air source heat pumps, and solar PV.
There is plenty of space, but many of the rooms are small with low ceilings. However, our living room is very roomy, and it has a home cinema with a big screen.
We have a table tennis room.

About the location

This part of West Somerset is not too busy, but also not remote.
There is a lot of countryside to explore, including the Blackdown and Quantock hills, which are great for walking and cycling. There are two reservoirs nearby, Clatworthy for fishing, and Wimbleball for water sports.
The coast to the north or south is 40 mins drive and there are many beaches to choose from.
It is convenient to get from here to Bristol, Exeter or down to Cornwall by road.
There are regular train links from Taunton or Tiverton stations. It takes 2 hrs to reach London on a fast train from Taunton.
People in Somerset are especially friendly!
