About the location

Quincy, California is at about 3500 feet (1067 m.) above sea level in a scenic valley nestled in the mountains at the northern end of the Sierra Nevada mountain range before it transitions to the Cascade Range. Quincy has a population of around 5000 people. There is a community college, a natural foods co-op, Bucks Lake Wilderness Area, world-class mountain biking, a local brewery, a couple of art galleries, and several restaurants, among other things. The nearest cities are Reno, Nevada 70 miles to the southeast and Chico, California 75 miles to the west. There are several nice golf courses within an hours drive. In the winter, there is backcountry skiing nearby as well as the ski resorts of the Tahoe area 1-2 hours away.
