A Seventeenth Century Flat in the Centre of Prague

Our home is a sensitively renovated spacious apartment in a seventeenth century house in the historical centre of Prague (Prague 2). Prague is very much a walking city (with excellent public transport, too) and our home is in walking distance to the city centre (Jewish Quarter, medieval Charles Bridge, river islands, all opera houses, Old Town Townhall with the medieval astronomical clock etc.). At the same time our home is off the main tourist tracks. It is a two bedroom apartment with a small study room (with an additional double bed). The layout offers a large living room with an adjacent kitchen, family bathroom with a bathtub, children bedroom, master bedroom (king size bed, high mattrasses) with an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and a study/guestroom. Both bathrooms have a bidet. The apartment (126 sq. meters) has wooden (oak) floors, historical windows and a courtyard balcony (the so called Pawlatche). The nearby Botanical garden of the Charles University and historical gardens by the city walls offer plenty of greenery. Prague has one of the best preserved historical Jewish quarters in Europe, a rich mixture of architectonic styles (from Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance to modernist) and a vivid music and theatre scene. Our apartment is in walking distance to the main train station which can connect you with other UNESCO world heritage destinations, such as the medieval silver mining city Kutná Hora or castles in the Křivoklát woods (hunting woods of Bohemian kings). The house is very quiet. It has a historical stone staircase and a lift.

We can offer a plenty of toys and practical children items (including a potty, a highchair etc.). Our home is barrier-free and suitable both for elderly people and children. It is a non-smoking flat.

About the location

The southern part of Prague 2 is one of the greenest parts of the city. At the same time, it is situated within the historical city walls (some of its remnants can still be seen). Our house is close to the botanical garden of the Charles University which is wonderful for walks or jogging. The botanical garden has an aviary with about ten parrots and other places of potential interest for children (a small shallow brook where children can play). Another adjacent garden is St. Catherine´s garden. Within an easy reach there is the so called hidden garden and other gardens around the historical city walls which offer wonderful views of Prague. In our vicinity one can find a museum dedicated to the composer Antonin Dvorak which is housed in a baroque villa.

It is easy to reach the riverside, walk along the river or take a river boat. The riverside area has plenty of small open air cafés, restaurants and wine shops. One can walk to the Vyšehrad fortress area (part of historical city fortifications) which offers great views and plenty of greenary for picnics. One can easily walk to the city centre and enjoy medieval, baroque and art nouveau sights or explore the Jewish quarter with the Old Jewish cemetary and museum. It is equally easy to hop on a tram and visit the Prague castle area and baroque terrace gardens on the slopes of the castle hill.
