About the location

Our house lies in a residential Victorian/ Edwardian conservation area a few minutes from the historic medieval streets, ancient walls, restaurants, museums, theatres, cinemas and bars of the city, York Railway Station and National Railway Museum. (Trains under 2 hours to London Kings Cross, easy connection to the coast and fast run to Leeds)

The large open grass expanse of the Knavesmire is situated at one end of the street. Down the other is a park with childrens play area. It's walk from the lovely Rowntree Park down by the river. The street has a lively community feel with lots of people passing through but a quiet, peaceful enclave at night.

Nearby Bishopthorpe High Street has ndependent shops, cafes and businesses. The North Yorkshire Moors and Dales National Parks can be reached by car in just over half an hour. There is plenty of public transport links to anywhere virtually on the doorstep.
