High Tide

High Tide is a holiday hut situated on the shores of FleetBay in the Solway Firth. It was built in 1937 by Thomas George (Tiger) McGill Duncan, Grandfather of Jane, Alastair, Simon and Anna and retains a personal and homely feel. The big main window of the hut, a true picture window, looks directly onto the beach where rabbits, hedgehogs and even deer as well as a great variety of birds can be seen playing and feeding during certain times of the day and night.
High Tide is a wood lined chalet which consists of a main room with windows on to the beach, two bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with 2 single beds. There is a bed settee in the main room and a camp bed is also available. There is mains water with a gas water heater in the kitchen. The kitchen, which has a door to the garden, has a gas cooker and gas refrigerator. Cutlery, utensils and crockery are plentiful. The bathroom has a toilet, sink and shower.

Lighting in the hut is from 12V batteries charged from a solar panel. Heating in the main room is by a wood burning stove and there is also a Super Ser gas heater.

High Tide is the sort of place for those who want to just get away for a while. Walking, bird watching, reading, or just enjoying the view. It’s about being off line for awhile.
