The canyon house

The home­style country located in the village Zahlorou dug into the unique gorge Vouraikos, paleontological interest, lush virgin landscape, overlooking the homonymous river.

The available house has 3 floors connected by an internal staircase.

The first floor has 3 rooms, one of which has a balcony, fireplace and bathroom with bath and double bed, two small rooms with single beds.

The ground floor features a spacious living room with fireplace, balcony, living room and a bed. Communicates with the equally spacious and fully equipped
kitchen and a bathroom with shower.

The attic has a bedroom with a double bed, a living room and a bathroom.

The village of Zachlorou is 7 km from Kalavryta. Large terrace, unique view of the Vouraikos gorge, the river and the lines of Odontotos. WiFi, TV-Netflix.

The house is warm due to central heating, wood is provided for the fireplace. 150 meters from the taverns and the train station.

About the location

The house, in country style, is located in the village of Zachlorou, tucked into the uniquely beautiful Vouraikos gorge, of palaeontological interest, in a green unspoilt landscape, overlooking the river of the same name.

There is plenty of parking around the house. Close to the house (150 meters) next to the train station there are two picturesque taverns, tucked in the plane trees and next to the river.

For shopping, Kalavryta has a full market. The location of the house is an ideal point of reference to enjoy the natural beauties of the village and the historical Kalavryta, which are 7 km away.

You can visit the Monasteries of Agia Lavra and the Great Cave which are 3 and 8 km from the village respectively. The ski resort is 21 km away. After Kalavryta, the Vouraikos river crosses the deep and steep gorge 20 km long, through which runs the cogwheel railway that connects Kalavryta with Diakopto. The cogwheel route starts from Diakopto, crosses the Vouraikos river gorge which is one of the most beautiful natural attractions of our country, stops in the village of Zachlorou and ends in Kalavryta with daily routes (Kalavryta-Diakopto) from morning to afternoon. It has even been characterized as the most spectacular railway line in the Balkans. If you decide to do the route on foot, the descent from Zachlorou to Diakopto following the lines of Odontotos requires about 4 hours of hiking, while the corresponding ascent takes about 6 hours. The route is part of the European path E4. According to the legend, Heracles loved Buddha, daughter of Nepheligereti and Eliki, and opened the passage to reach down to the sea and meet her. The Vouraikos river got its name from her. On the banks of the Vouraikos river there is a cave, where, according to mythology, there was an oracle dedicated to Hercules. There the pilgrims placed their anklets and read the oracles on the Tablets of Knowledge, as they were called. Based in Zachlorou, follow the paths of the mythical hero Hercules and visit Epidaurus (1 hour), Mycenae and Ancient Olympia (1 hour and 15 minutes), as well as the old city of Nafplio (1.5 hours away), with its preserved architectural features and the two Venetian castles that crown it, Akronafplia and Palamidi.

The location of the village to the first clear blue beaches is 25 km, but also 21 km from the ski resort of Kalavryta, thus giving the visitor the opportunity to combine the mountain with the sea and enjoy a quality vacation with absolute moments of relaxation.
