Hilltop hideaway

Our home was built 12 years ago by it`s original owners for it`s incredible position and magnificent views over the Lot valley. It is a modern one level wooden and glass structure, full of light. It is airy and cool during the summer months and well insulted and cozy during the winter as we have a large wood burning stove in the living room which heats the house. There is additional heating if needed.

There is a small swimming pool in the large garden which reaches down to the forest edge so we have frequent night time visits from wild boar, deer, foxes and badgers.

The living area consists of a large modern kitchen with all appliances, two living areas, a separate dining room and a library/study. There is a large double bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet.

About the location

Our house is the last on a quiet road, next to a large area of preserved oak forest. Our neighbors are quiet and unobtrusive.

We are at the top of a hill so overlook the surrounding wooded hills and vineyards. The forest area is popular for walking and their are a number of beautiful walking trails accessible from our front gate which include routes to three ancient dolmens and neighboring villages.

Our own village of Castelfranc, at the bottom of the hill, contains a bakery and two restaurants and borders the river Lot, so there is a supervised swimming beach in the summers.

Within five minutes drive, there is the larger village of Prayssac with two supermarkets, a medical center, post office and numerous good restaurants.

We are in the heart of the wine growing area for the wonderful red Cahors malbec wines so there are a wide choice of vineyards to visit.
