Spacious, comfortable house in North Oxford - combining the feel of a village yet within Oxford's city walls
Sun-filled, well-equipped family home: two living areas, three double bedrooms, two of which are ensuite (and an additional bedroom/office which isn't included, for storage of our things); patio + large enclosed garden, home cinema, & woodburner.
North Oxford is famed for its easy access to the city centre, nearby train station (Oxford Parkway) with ample car parking & trains to London, numerous delightful spots along the River Thames, the Oxford canal (two minutes from our back garden), Port Meadow, several local pubs (one less than five minutes walk from our house, overlooking the village green with children's playground nearby) including The Trout which overlooks the River Thames.
Shops, cafes, restaurants in fashionable Summertown are close by, as is Jericho which hosts a cinema and the newly opened Schwarzman Centre. Oxford itself boasts history, architecture, museums, theatres and so on.
Easy access to Oxford city by bus (15 minutes) or lovely traffic-free canalside stroll (40 mins). On street parking (for which we would need to organise visitor permits). Great local walks.
THE SPACE
Downstairs there are two distinct living areas: the front lounge, or snug, with woodburner, two large sofas, beanbags and 40inch TV; kitchen/diner/living area with well-equipped kitchen, dining table that can be extended, two large sofas and home cinema equipment. Dining area overlooks the patio and spacious garden. Downstairs toilet and sink.
The first floor has three bedrooms: the master bedroom with kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with large shower; a second large bedroom with kingsize bed, futon, and desk; the additional small double bedroom to be kept for our things; and family bathroom including shower over bath.
The second floor has the fourth double bedroom, equipped with desk, and a small en-suite shower room.
From the garden gate you can walk directly to the local pub, the canal or over a picturesque railway bridge to access Port Meadow, views of which can be seen from the top of the house. Misty mornings and sunsets are particularly spectacular.
The garden has a patio with outside table and chairs seating eight.
About the location
Wolvercote is a delightful village, characterised by several pubs, Port Meadow, and the Oxford Canal meandering through it. And yet it is only a short drive, or pleasant stroll, into the city of Oxford itself.
