New terraced home on a lovely street in Wakefield

Welcome to our lovely home in Wakefield, West Yorkshire – the perfect base for your house exchange in the heart of northern England!
Our home is a modern (built 2019) 3-bedroom mid-terraced house in a peaceful, friendly residential area on the north eastern edge of the city. It’s quiet and safe, yet only a 10-minute drive (or easy bus ride) from Wakefield city centre and both mainline railway stations.

The house itself:
Bright lounge/diner and a seperate kitchen kitchen with all the essentials: oven, hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer, microwave,, and everything you’ll need for cooking and eating in.
Comfortable living room with a sofa, tv and unlimited fibre broadband.
Master bedroom with king-size bed and plenty of wardrobe space
Bathroom with full-size bath and shower over.
Two further bedrooms – these will be empty (as our buyer is taking the children’s furniture), giving you flexible space for guests, an office, yoga, or storage.
Small, low-maintenance patio garden to the rear with table and chairs for morning coffee or evening drinks, plus on-street parking right outside (no permits needed).
Because we’re moving out to take the children on a year-long adventure around the world after Christmas, the house will be spotless, freshly decorated and ready for you to simply arrive with your suitcase. The buyer is kindly keeping most of our furniture and white goods, so everything you need for day-to-day living is already here – just bring yourselves!

About the location

Wakefield, a vibrant city in the heart of West Yorkshire, perfectly positioned for exploring the best of northern England!

Wakefield boasts **excellent transport links**, making it an ideal base for day trips or longer adventures. We're just off the **M1** and close to the **M62**, with quick access to the **A1(M)** – Leeds is only 15-20 minutes by car, Sheffield around 30 minutes, and Manchester or York under an hour. For trains, **Wakefield Westgate station** (a short walk or bus ride from most parts of the city) has frequent direct services to **London King's Cross** (under 2 hours), Leeds (12 minutes), York, Edinburgh, and the south west via Birmingham. Nearby **Leeds Bradford Airport** is about 30-40 minutes away, and Doncaster Sheffield or Manchester airports are easily reachable by road or rail.

Despite being so well-connected, Wakefield feels wonderfully green and peaceful. We're surrounded by fantastic parks and open spaces – perfect for morning runs, family picnics, or just unwinding. Right on our doorstep you'll find:

- **Thornes Park** – a huge Victorian park with formal gardens, athletics stadium, playgrounds, mini golf and even a heated outdoor pool in summer.
- **Pugneys Country Park** – lakeside walks, watersports (sailing, windsurfing, canoeing), a light railway and café – great for active days out.
- **Newmillerdam Country Park** – beautiful woodland and boating lake just south of the city, ideal for birdwatching and peaceful strolls.
- **Anglers Country Park** – another reclaimed mining site turned nature reserve with lakes, wildlife hides and easy walking trails.

And of course, the world-famous **Yorkshire Sculpture Park** (only 15 minutes' drive) – 500 acres of rolling parkland dotted with incredible works by Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Ai Weiwei and many more. Pair it with **The Hepworth Wakefield** gallery in the city centre (a stunning David Chipperfield-designed building on the waterfront) for one of the UK’s best modern art experiences.

Beyond the parks, there's plenty more: historic **Wakefield Cathedral**, the fascinating **National Coal Mining Museum** (free entry and you can go underground!), **Sandal Castle** ruins, **Nostell Priory** (National Trust stately home with gorgeous gardens), and the quirky annual Rhubarb Festival. Castleford (home of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth) is minutes away, and the Yorkshire Dales or Peak District are easy day trips.

Whether you're into culture, outdoor adventures, history or simply relaxing in beautiful green spaces, Wakefield and the surrounding area have it all – and with such brilliant transport links, the rest of Yorkshire and beyond is right on your doorstep.
